*hope has won*

 Last night

I slept a little more deeply 

a little more peacefully 

and woke up with this sense of hope,

I realized I had not carried with me in a while. 

Every effort to choose love over hate, 

Kindness and respect over personal profit, 

And health over political gain, 

has won. 

While we still have many more battles to fight, 

and cannot physically hold each other’s hands in union, 

Millions of people around the world,

can breathe a little more easily tonight.
