*productivity*

In a society that glorifies growth and self-improvement,
We constantly are made to believe that
 we must keep moving,
we must keep thinking,
planning,  and
utilizing all our time and resources to full capacity
We must never stop or give ourselves a break because
consistency is the key to success
to emotional strength
to faster results
to accomplishments and rewards
which lead to satisfaction
and ultimate life-long happiness.
But are we actually living?

We are not machines.
By overworking and putting ourselves under so much pressure
we are hurting.
Our bodies become weaker,
sicker,
and less able to mentally tackle big "to-do" lists.
We are less creative, less observant, less curious, and less patient.
We become less happy.
We don't even notice the small experiences that bring us joy.
And isn't happiness our main life goal anyway?
We are not machines.

Slow down.
Taste that coffee you rush to make every morning.
Melt into that warm embrace of your lover.
Turn up your favorite song in the car.
And actually live EVERY moment to its fullest.

Quit putting your life on fast-forward.
Happiness is an experience not an endeavor.
