*morning intentions*
Some days I wake up
to the warm glow of the sun gently nudging me awake
"It's time to start the day."
I stretch my limbs as far as they can go,
and clutch my bedding extra tight as if I am sad to be parting with it.
"We will meet again when the day is over."
As I give my senses a few moments to observe my surroundings,
I think of a purpose for the day.
What makes me happy?
What makes my life wonderful?
"What do I look forward to feeling, tasting, listening, or smelling?"
Perhaps its the breeze on my skin when I open the windows and sip my black tea.
Perhaps its the creamy almond butter meeting my lips as I indulge in my oatmeal.
Maybe it will be the chirping of the birds soothing me,
Or the aroma of morning chai filling my nostrils.
As I think of the pleasant sensations I am privileged to experience during my mornings,
I feel a sense of gratitude guiding me to begin my day.
This helps me get out of bed.
