*A letter to Dads*

From the moment your daughter comes into the world,
I hope you hold her precious baby hand and tell her,
you will love and protect her heart from today forward.

I hope you will be there when she starts to walk,
and she wobbles and smiles with her mouth wide open
And sees you at the finish line.

I hope you drop her off on her first day of Kindergarten
and I hope you wait until she stops waving at you and heads into her classroom.
I hope this moment makes you emotional.

I hope you are Santa, the Tooth Fairy, and anything that keeps her imagination alive.

I hope you teach her right from wrong,
But trust her when she tells you she has learned from her mistakes.
 I hope you never
Let her go to sleep, knowing you made her cry.
Just talk to her
That's all she wants.

I hope you respect all women, especially your wife
Because she will learn that that is the dignity and value she deserves
From all men.

I hope you go to all her award ceremonies and competitions,
and even if she does not get top ten or first place,
I hope you tell her you are the proudest dad in the world.
Tell her and she will never forget this day.

I hope you never comment on her size,
when she's just fitting into the world.
That is not your place.

I hope you tell her she is the most beautiful girl
when she goes to prom
I hope you are there with your camera.
This means a lot to her.

When she is applying to college,
I hope you never compare her grades
her scores, her essay,
everything she has put her blood, sweat, and tears into for four hard years,
to that of anyone else.
She is only ever trying to make you proud.
Congratulate her on the first school she gets into
Even if she tells you she wants to go to a better one.

And when she falls in love
so deeply in love
with that person that will value her and protect her heart as much as her dad does
I hope you cannot wait to meet him.

I hope that on her wedding day,
You cry the most,
You are a little sad to see your precious girl so grown up
But you are honored to be the father of the woman she is.

Until the day you both leave this Earth,
I hope you remind your daughter how important she is.
I hope you have a bond
that forbids secrets
and fosters love.

This is the love that every daughter deserves from her father.
You are her provider, but you can also be her best friend.
