*i can’t breathe*

In the year 2020,
the country has been affected by a second virus,
Both are deadly
But one is deeply rooted in the nations’s history and culture
and has existed since the very beginning.
It has killed for years.

I am not black.
But when George Floyd could not breathe,
and Ahmaud Arbery dropped dead to the ground
And hundreds and thousands of other African Americans were harassed, persecuted, and killed,
I felt that in my heart as another human being.

If you have even an ounce of privilege in this world,
You are blessed.
But you also have a duty.

You better use the basic rights and more that you have
And speak up for those that are silenced every day.
You better use the strength and power you were given
To fight the battles that millions have been fighting since this country came to be.

And most importantly, never flaunt your rights to those that must live their life in fear everyday.
Others are watching and justice will be served.
The fight does not stop until it is.
